A Day Trip to North and Middle Caicos
If you’re looking to add a little adventure to your vacation, taking a day trip to North and Middle Caicos is a great idea. Think of it as a “vacation within your vacation!” You can either plan this trip yourself or go with a guided tour. Personally, I love the freedom of exploring on my own, but it does take a little bit of preparation. No worries – I’ve got you covered!
Planning Your Own Trip? Here’s What You’ll Need:
(If you’re going with a tour, you can skip steps 1-3 and just enjoy the ride!)
- Ferry tickets (book in advance!)
- A rental car for the day (you’ll need it to explore)
- Snacks and drinks—either bring a cooler or fill one up along the way
- Sunglasses, sunscreen & mosquito repellent (trust me, you’ll thank me later!)
- Good walking shoes if you’re hiking the Mudjin Harbor shoreline or exploring caves
- A camera or phone to capture some seriously Instagram-worthy shots
The TCI Ferry runs multiple times a day from Provo’s Walkin Marina to North Caicos. I recommend booking tickets online in advance. You can rent a car through them too! (Unfortunately, you can’t bring a rental car from Provo.) Another option for a rental is Al’s Car Rental (649) 331-1947—worth checking out!
From Butterfield landing where the Ferry arrives to North Caicos it takes about 45 minutes to drive to Mudjin Harbor. So plan your day to have enough time to catch the last ferry.

Hog Road Restuarant
When you’re arriving in North Caicos by ferry, or waiting for the ferry to travel back to Providenciales you should check out Hog Road Restaurant, right at Bellefield Landing. It’s a cozy, welcoming spot run by locals. They open bright and early at 7:30 AM, making it perfect for breakfast before a day of exploring. The menu is full of Caribbean classics like oxtail stew, conch fritters, and jerk chicken — all made with fresh, local ingredients, some even grown on the owners’ family farm.(Google Map and Info)

Cottage Pond
Right after the ferry dock, this quick stop is worth a visit once. It’s a 270-foot-deep sinkhole hidden in the jungle, full of history and eerie legends. (Rumor has it, people used to be thrown in as punishment… spooky!) If you have a drone, this is a cool spot for aerial shots.

Wade’s Green Plantation
This ancient village in the jungle is a fascinating stop, but plan for about 1.5–2 hours to explore. Heads up—you may need a government guide to open it up and take you around. Our Favorite
Mudjin Harbor
Okay, this is THE highlight of the trip! North Caicos’ stunning shores feature high cliffs, white sandy beaches, and hidden caves leading right onto the beach—perfect for that epic vacation photo. Dragon Cay Beach is one of the most picturesque spots in all of TCI. If you’re feeling adventurous (and you’re a good swimmer), you can walk to Dragon Cay through shallow waters—but be careful if the waves are strong! Google Maps Click Here
Mudjon Bar & Grill for a delicious meal, refreshing cocktails, or an ice-cold local beer—all with a breathtaking view of Dragon Cay. Google Maps info here

Conch Bar Caves

Bambarra Beach
This is one of the most relaxing spots you’ll find. The shallow water is perfect for wading, and during low tide, you can walk to a nearby cay. Just lay back under the shade of the Caicos pine trees, listen to the breeze, and let your worries melt away. This is the farthest point I’d go on a day trip—it’s about a 45–50 minute drive back to catch the last ferry. Location Click Here

There are plenty more beautiful places to explore if you’re planning a multi-day stay on North and Middle Caicos. But if you only have a day, this itinerary will give you many options to fill up your day for an unforgettable experience.
